Anderlecht accept new bid from Arsenal for Albert Sambi Lokonga who will join on a 5-year deal

Arsenal seem to have sorted out the last details of Albert Sambi Lokonga’s transfer from Anderlecht with the clubs agreeing on the sell-on clause to find an agreement.

Earlier on Tuesday, Fabrizio Romano reported that Arsenal’s latest bid to Anderlecht for Albert Sambi Lokonga was €17.5m plus around €4m in add-ons. Personal terms are already agreed upon, but the two clubs needed to reach a compromise on the player’s sell-on clause.

It seems like they have done just that with a report from Belgium stating the deal has been agreed. Arsenal will, as mentioned, pay €17.5m, a fee that could rise to €22m with bonuses.

Anderlecht wanted 15% of any fee for Sambi Lokonga’s future sale, and Di Marzio reported that the two parties were still at work to come to an agreement on this detail earlier on Tuesday. It is not clear what the final percentage stands at, at this point, but the matter has been ‘settled’ according to the Belgian report.

VoetbalKrant also reported that after six months of work, the transfer is ‘almost complete’, and they fully expect Sambi Lokonga to play for Arsenal next season.

Recent reports from HLN suggest that the midfielder is no longer expected at Anderlecht’s training base for pre-season. They’re currently planning to begin their preparations without him.

Sambi Lokonga made 37 appearances for Anderlecht this season, as well as a few for the Belgium u21s. He was on the fringes of the Belgium Euro 2020 squad, but he narrowly missed out when Axel Witsel returned to fitness just in time.

Instead, it looks like the 21-year-old will be replacing the Euros and pre-season with Anderlecht in Belgium with a tour alongside his new Arsenal teammates.
