Arsenal legend issues huge verdict on Martinelli’s departure over £50m transfer report
Kevin Campbell believes Gabriel Martinelli should seize his chances at Arsenal
Mikel Arteta would not give the 20-year-old time on the pitch to get up to speed, according to the former Arsenal striker.
According to Kevin Campbell, Gabriel Martinelli should seize his chances amid transfer reports. Arsenal have selected Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins as transfer targets, according to The Sun.
The transfer target comes ahead of Alexandre Lacazette’s possible departure from the Emirates. The striker’s current deal runs out at the end of June next year.
Calvert-Lewin is reported to be worth more than £50 million
When questioned by Football Insider’s Dylan Childs if the arrival of another striker would be concerning for Martinelli, Campbell responded, “Martinelli is only 20.
“He is still learning his trade. Arsenal cannot do wrong by signing top, young international strikers like Watkins or Calvert-Lewin.
“Lacazette will not be there next season. Martinelli will get his opportunities. The key is taking them.
“Nobody has time anymore. You will not get picked just because you are a young player who needs experience. You need to be doing the business to get on. Martinelli has to take his chance when it comes. That has been the case in football ever since I was a kid.
“ With no European football, there aren’t as many games this season, with no European football so when the chance comes it is massively important that you make the most of it.
