Arsenal set to submit £40m bid for England defender Ben White

Arsenal are reportedly targeting a summer move for Brighton and England center-half Ben White with Mikel Arteta desperate to bolster his backline.
The central defender enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in the Premier League and his efforts saw Ben called into England’s 26-man roster for the Euros following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury.
And according to The Mirror, Mikel has become a big admirer of the player and will look to make a swoop for him after the Euros.
As revealed by Sportsmail, the Seagulls will look to fend off any interest in him by placing a £50 million price tag on the 23-year-old.
Arsenal are looking to freshen up their defense with David Luiz having departed the Emirates on a free transfer while Hector Bellerin could also leave this summer.
However, they’ll face competition from Liverpool and Manchester United.

The Seagulls rejected a bid of £25 million from Leeds last summer but an offer in the region of £50 million could be too good to turn down.
In a recent interview, the English side’s chief executive Paul Barber admitted: ‘We know some of our best players aren’t going to be with us forever and, if the right offer comes along and they want to leave, then they can go.’
White made 39 appearances across all competitions for Graham Potter’s team last season, helping them keep 12 clean sheets in the division.
