Aubameyang’s Impressive Goal-Scoring Record In Spain
Aubameyang has enjoyed a fruitful spell at the Nou Camp so far as he has banged in a lot of important goals for them in the final third. The 33-year-old has scored 13 goals and secured one assist in 24 matches for the Catalan club.
The Gabon sensation performed well to average 2.2 shots and 0.5 key passes per 90 minutes in La Liga. He even took care of the ball well when linking up play with others around him, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 75.5% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
Aubameyang is currently not guaranteed regular first-team starts at the Catalan club following the arrival of Robert Lewandowksi earlier this summer. Hence, the Blues have a good shot at landing the Gabon marksman before the end of this month.
What Will Aubameyang Add To Chelsea Boss Thomas Tuchel’s Side?
Aubameyang remains a decent finisher in front of the opposition goal and can create space for himself to get some shots in at goal. He can even set up the odd chance for his teammates. The Galon talent is primarily a central striker but can even fill in as a left-sided wide player if required. However, father time is slowly catching up with his game which could be why he has sometimes struggled to be consistent in the final third.
Still, Chelsea can benefit from recruiting someone of Aubameyang’s experience and skillset as Thomas Tuchel is in dire need to add more quality to his frontline.
At the moment, the West London club does not have a proper ‘number nine’ following the summer departures of Romelu Lukaku (on loan) and Timo Werner respectively.
At 33, Aubayemang might still have a few good years left in him to play at his best. Hence, he would serve as a good short-term fix to Tuchel’s goal-scoring problems at Stamford Bridge. The former Arsenal striker will add plenty of goals to Chelsea’s attack and could help them challenge for a major trophy or two this season. All in all, it makes sense for the Blues to try everything they can to bring Aubameyang back to England before the end of this summer transfer window.
