Chelsea star set for Arsenal move as Mikel Arteta considers summer cut-deal for attacking talent
With one year left on his contract Arsenal set to make move for Callum Hudson-Odoi
Callum Hudson-Odoi has revealed that he has not been in contact with Chelsea on a regular basis while on loan at Bayer Leverkusen.
Last season, the 22-year-old struggled for playing time under Thomas Tuchel and was allowed to join Leverkusen on loan in August.
Chelsea have since strengthened their attacking options with the signings of Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke in the January transfer window, casting further doubt on Hudson-future Odoi’s at Stamford Bridge.
This summer, the winger’s contract with Chelsea will expire, and it’s believed that Arsenal is among the clubs considering a cheap deal at the end of the season.
‘I haven’t spoken to them [Chelsea] in a long time,’ says the author. Sky Sports quoted Hudson-Odoi as saying.
‘Because I’m not there, there’s nothing I can say or do as I see all these players leave. At the end of the day, I’m focused on the club and doing everything I can to help.
‘I have no idea what will happen in the future. All I can do is concentrate on what is happening here.
‘At the end of the day, you have to remain optimistic. Regardless, she is always smiling. You cannot stress about things whether they are going well or poorly.
‘You also feel more confident and good on the ball and off the pitch when you smile.’
Hudson-Odoi also believes his loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen has improved his attacking game.
‘I wasn’t as direct the last couple of seasons,’ she says. Hudson-Odoi explained.
‘So I felt I could be more direct on the ball, try to create more problems for the defence.
‘This season, I’ve had that feeling of regaining my sharpness and causing problems, taking on people, trying to create chances, and attempting to score and assist.’
