Club gives Arsenal and Manchester United green light to sign super talented EPL midfielder

Wolves are resigned to losing Ruben Neves this summer and are looking at replacements for their star midfielder.

Neves, 25, has been a mainstay for Wolves in the Premier League ever since being promoted with the club back in 2018.

However, since last summer, he has been linked heavily with a move away from the Midlands with Arsenal and Manchester United believed to be interested in his signature.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Wolves are now sounding out replacements for Neves as they expect the Portuguese to leave at the end of the season.

It is thought those clubs wanting to sign Neves may have to fork out as much as £50 million to acquire his services as the board at Molineux take into account the fees spent on other players of his standard.

Since signing from FC Porto five years ago, Neves has made over 200 appearances for Wolves and scored 24 goals.

Earlier this month, his manager Bruno Lage appeared to slap a £100 million price tag on the midfielder as he praised his compatriot’s qualities.

Lage said: ‘What I know is we have a special player here with us. What he is doing this season is very good. I think also the way we play, he can show a better Ruben, and also the way he plays puts our team on a different level.

‘When you have that player, the best thing to do is improve his salary and years of contract.

‘But who knows, when you have a top player like him in that specific position, that can defend and attack, and is a top professional and a great man, the big teams are there with £100million to buy these kinds of players.’

New midfield recruits are much needed at United with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season as their contracts run out.

The Red Devils’ main target was thought to be Declan Rice this summer, however, with West Ham manager David Moyes demanding £150 million for the Englishman, United’s interest has cooled in recent months.

Kalvin Phillips is also admired by the Manchester giants but agreeing any deal would meaning fighting off Aston Villa who are reportedly eyeing up a £60 million offer for the Leeds man.
