Arsenal might finish in the top four if Mikel Arteta’s wins the remaining fixtures against Newcastle and Everton.
Victory would see Arsenal qualify for the Champions League for the first time since the 2015-16 season, as well as finish ahead of Tottenham for the first time since that season.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will rely on his best players to secure a crucial top four finish and Gabriel Martinelli is undoubtedly one of them.
After struggling for regular football earlier in the season, the 20-year-old Brazilian has been superb for the Gunners in the second half of the season.
But Martinelli is one of the players that make the Emirates Stadium club tick, and he comes into tonight’s game with a positive attitude.
Martinelli has been chosen to Brazil’s senior squad for upcoming friendlies against South Korea and Japan, and former Arsenal goalkeeper Emi Martinez has appeared to congratulate him.
After the promotion, the teenage forward posted on Instagram,“Very proud to be called up again for the Brazilian National Team. The feeling of wearing this shirt is always an honor. From dreams to reality.”
And the Aston Villa goalkeeper answered by writing ‘Craque,’ which is slang for’star.’
Martinelli’s contract will be extended if he continues to impress Arsenal.
The Ituano-raised superstar, who cost the Londoners £6 million in 2019, is out of contract in 2024, and with that only two years away, the club is keen to tie him down to lengthier terms, as Fabrizio Romano reported in April.
And if Arteta’s side seals their Champions League spot, assuring a top-four finish, it will be a huge incentive for Martinelli to stay.
