Man Utd target’s representatives in England to discuss move with bid imminent

Antony’s representatives are in London as they hope to complete a move to Manchester United for the Ajax winger before the end of the transfer window.

...

The Brazil international is a key target for the Red Devils before the window closes on 1 September, but they have already seen a bid turned down for him by the Dutch champions.

Ajax are keen to keep hold of the 22-year-old, having already lost manager Erik ten Hag and defender Lisandro Martinez to United this summer and a string of other big players in a transfer window of serious upheaval for them.

...

However, they do admit that everyone has a price and the Athletic report that the figure they want is €100m (£84.5m).

The Red Devils placed a bid of €80m (£67.6m) for Antony last week, but Aax turned it down and want significantly more for one of their star players.

The player is keen to make the move and reunite with his former manager at Old Trafford, with his representatives now in England and working hard to get the move done.

...

Ajax left Antony out of their win over Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday as they are well aware of him being unsettled over the speculation.

A move looks likely before the end of the transfer window, but there will be some final haggling over price, with Manchester United wanting to drive Ajax down to under £80m if possible.

...

PSV winger Cody Gakpo remains a back-up option for Ten Hag, and he would be a substantially cheaper one, but United want Antony and it appears that they will get their man, although he will be very expensive.
