Manchester United Vs Leicester City Preview

Manchester United will lock horns with Leicester City at King Power Stadium on Thursday night, hoping to pick up a positive result away from home. The visitors will be coming into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 victory over Southampton, whereas the Foxes recorded a 2-1 defeat to 10-men Chelsea.

Let’s take a look at how things are shaping up ahead of the midweek clash.

Team News

Victor Lindelof remains a doubt for the trip to Leicester, whereas Anthony Martial is still ruled out with an Achilles injury.

“Victor Lindelof is training with the team, we will see today how far he is but just one session he was in,” Ten Hag revealed.

“He was two-three weeks out. Martial is not available.”

Besides, new signing Antony might have to wait until Sunday’s clash against Arsenal for his potential debut.

Flipping over to the hosts, midfielder James Maddison remains a doubt with an unfortunate hamstring injury while Ricardo Pereira and Ryan Bertrand are ruled out. The Foxes will be without the services of Wesley Fofana in defence following his transfer to Chelsea.

“Erik is adapting to the country and the league, he will understand very quickly that the tempo and intensity will be different from where he’s come from,” Brendan Rodgers said.

“He’ll need time to bring in the players he wants and time to put in place his philosophy. In the modern game that can be difficult but I’m sure he’ll do very well.”

Tactical Preview And Key Men

Having picked up all six points in their last two games, The Red Devils will be heading into the contest full of confidence. The Varane-Martinez pairing in defence has provided Ten Hag with much-needed stability at the back, and Casemiro’s arrival will only add to the rigidity of the team. The trio of Casemiro-Eriksen-Fernandes will be expected to dominate the midfield proceedings; however, the lack of a focal point in the attack seems to be a matter of concern.

On the other hand, Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to pick up a positive result after losing three consecutive league fixtures. James Maddison has put up decent performances so far this season, so the gaffer will be counting on him to make a difference against the mighty Red Devils.
