Newcastle United set to rival Premier League clubs for this winger
If a report from the Chronicle Live is believed to be true, Newcastle United are considering a winter move for Victor Tsygankov. But they are not alone in the race as the likes of West Ham United and Wolves are also keeping close tabs on the Dynamo Kyiv winger according to French publication Jeunes Footeux.
The 24-year-old Ukraine international will be a free agent next summer. However, the clubs are already circling like vultures to secure his services, and therefore, weighing up a bargain deal in the January window. Although he might not be a familiar name yet in the European circuit, the hype surrounding the attacker has genuine reasons.
Tsygankov began his career with Nyva Vinnytsia but joined the academy ranks of Dynamo Kyiv a year later. He then progressed through their youth setup and eventually broke into their senior side as a teenager.
So far he has fired in 87 goals and assisted 60 more in 220 appearances for the Ukrainian heavyweights.
Primarily left-footed, he loves to operate from the left as an inverted winger. Eddie Howe was after Moussa Diaby all summer, but the Frenchman’s decision to stay at Bayer Leverkusen might have triggered the Magpies chief to explore other options. They are now a financial superpower following the Saudi-led takeover and the signing of Alexander Isak for a club-record €73m depicts that they are no longer shy about spending an astronomical figure.
Why Newcastle United Should Tie Him Down
Newcastle United are mostly relying on Miguel Almiron from the right. The Paraguayan has always been a workhorse, but his improvement in terms of finishing and final passes has helped the club a lot. Having said that, neither of Ryan Fraser and Jacob Murphy is productive enough in the attacking third and the gaffer would demand more goals and assists from his wingers for a place in Europe next year.
West Ham, on the other hand, have ample wide attackers in their squad. Jarrod Bowen is irreplaceable down the right despite a slow start so far this season and an arrival in East London could see Tsygankov fighting for his place rather than having assured first-team football. Pedro Neto, Adama Traore and the summer signing Gonçalo Guedes are there at Wolves to run the show from the flanks and the project at St James’ Park would suit him the most if a transfer takes place this winter.
