Roman Abramovich makes big decision on Chelsea transfer for Harry Kane and Erling Haaland signing

The Blues have been linked with a new striker this summer with Erling Haaland and Harry Kane both being reported targets for the west London club

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has issued his verdict on the club’s hunt for a new striker, according to reports.

The Blues, despite having a very successful 2020/21 season, did struggle in front of goal under Thomas Tuchel.

The west London club finished in fourth in the Premier League table but scored less goals over the course of the 38 games played than eight out of the top 10 in the top-flight.

Chelsea scored 58 times on their way to a top four finish, with midfielder Jorginho finishing as the side’s leading scorer in the league with seven goals – all from the penalty spot.

This has led to plenty of transfer rumours surrounding the Blues and their hunt for a new striker. The two names refusing to go away are Harry Kane and Erling Haaland of Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund, respectively.

Now, according to Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea owner Abramovich has stepped in to inform the club’s hierarchy of his ‘priority’, which is to sign Kane from Spurs.

The report says that Haaland would be ‘more difficult to deal with’, perhaps down to his lack of Premier League experience compared to Kane, who has won the Golden Boot award three times.

footballaudit understands that Kane is yet to directly tell Tottenham about wanting to leave N17 this summer, but is frustrated with the lack of major honours during his career with the club.

The 27-year-old is yet to win a trophy with Spurs, despite representing them professionally for around 12 years. This is something that could be very attractive about Chelsea.

The Blues of course won the Champions League recently and also came agonisingly close to making that a double with an FA Cup triumph.

However, according to Sky Sports, Chelsea aren’t alone in their interest with Manchester City and Manchester United also having spoken with Kane’s representatives over a summer move.

Here We Go: Chelsea Finally Reach Agreement For Erling Haaland

As for Haaland, the Telegraph reported recently that the Borussia Dortmund and Norway striker is ‘interested’ in a move to Stamford Bridge and is prepared to wait another year if necessary.

The west London club and Dortmund share a strong relationship due to the previous piece of business that saw Christian Pulisic move to the English capital in January 2019.

Haaland reportedly has a release clause in his Dortmund deal that comes into action in 12 months’ time that will see him allowed to leave Signal Iduna Park for between £65million and £86m next summer.
