Romelu Lukaku targets Inter stay after Chelsea loan ends

Romelu Lukaku has made it clear to Chelsea that he wants to extend his spell at Inter.
The 29-year-old returned to Inter on loan last summer after struggling to make an impression in his first season at Chelsea following his £97.5 million move to Stamford Bridge in 2021.
However, Lukaku has experienced another difficult season owing to injuries and has managed to start just 13 games in Serie A so far this term.
Inter have already signalled that they have no ambitions to pursue Lukaku on a permanent deal, with the club’s CEO, Giuseppe Marotta, declaring last month that the striker is ‘not at his best or the player we got to witness in years gone by’.
But Lukaku believes he wants to remain at Inter after his loan spell concludes at the end of the season.
‘I have a wonderful relationship with the fans and I’ve always tried to give everything for Inter because it offered me the opportunity to win two years ago,’ Lukaku said after scoring twice in Inter’s 3-0 win over Empoli on Sunday.
‘This club has allowed me to become who I am today.’
When asked if he wanted to continue at Inter, Lukaku replied: ‘Yes, but men you have to pay attention to those things because the others [say].
‘My goal is to give my all for Inter.’
