Update on the future of this Leeds United ace

In a recent report, Leeds Live offered an update on the future of Leeds United full-back Cody Drameh. It has been mentioned that the English talent has decided to stay and fight for his place at the West Yorkshire club beyond this summer.

Drameh’s Impressive Loan Spell At Cardiff Last Season

Drameh had a decent six-month loan spell at Cardiff City last season when he managed to put in a few impressive displays on the right side of their defence. The 20-year-old made 22 appearances for the Bluebirds in the previous campaign, picking up three assists in the process across all competitions.

The London-born talent gave a good account of himself down the right flank by averaging 3.8 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 2.0 clearances, 0.6 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in the English Championship. However, he has to figure out a way to improve his ball distribution after making 68.8% of his attempted passes in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract with the Whites is set to run out in the summer of 2024. Hence, Leeds boss Jesse Marsch was under no pressure to cash in on him during this summer transfer window.

Should Leeds United Boss Jesse Marsch Keep Drameh For The Long Run?

Drameh is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger quickly to secure the ball back for his team on the defensive end of the field. He usually clears the danger when needed and has got the vision to create a few decent chances from the right flank. The English youngster can even make a few driving runs with the ball in the opponent’s half. However, as mentioned earlier, the gifted full-back needs to improve his passing accuracy on the attacking end of the field if he intends to become a top player in his position someday.

At 20, Drameh has got a very promising future ahead of him. However, he has failed to make himself a regular starter at Elland Road this season as he has fallen behind Rasmus Kristensen in Leeds United‘s pecking order.

However, there is no denying that Drameh is good enough to serve as a good rotational piece in Jesse Marsch‘s match-day squad in the coming seasons. Thus, it makes sense for the Whites to keep hold of their young right-back for the long run as he is a player who could grow into a future starter under the watchful eyes of Marsch.
