Victor Osimhen sends transfer message to Manchester United amid Erik Ten Hag interest
Victor Osimhen set to make summer transfer decision
Victor Osimhen appears uninterested in leaving Napoli and says he will leave his future in the hands of his employer this summer if other clubs come calling.
This season, the 24-year-old has been spectacular, scoring 18 goals in 19 Serie A games as Napoli has completely dominated the Italian top flight.
Luciano Spalletti’s team leads the table by 15 points, with the Nigerian striker’s goals playing a significant role in their success, as he has five more than anyone else in the division.
Premier League clubs, predictably, are aware of his exploits and are interested in bringing him to England in the summer.
Manchester United and Chelsea have been mentioned as possible destinations for the prolific forward, but he is determined to win silverware with Napoli first, leaving any potential move in the hands of the club.
‘When you’re doing so well, top clubs from all over the world, mostly from the top five leagues,’ Osimhen told ESPN.
‘And to be able to attract interest from these top clubs shows that I am doing well, and it motivates me to do even more for myself and my team.
‘However, I am currently focused on Napoli, and they have the final say. I simply want to assist my team in winning games and trophies.
‘At the end of the season, we’ll see what happens, but that’s not up to me. It is up to the club to make the decision.’
Napoli may decide to keep their star player even if a large bid comes in, as club president Aurelio De Laurentiis stated earlier this month that they have no need to sell.
‘I can assure you that Osimhen is not for sale,’ said De Laurentiis. ‘Our players are in high demand, but I do not need to sell anyone. We are not in debt.’
