Newcastle United vs Arsenal‘s match started with full attacking forces.

Really lovely move from Newcastle as Willock makes a brilliant undetected run into the left of the box.

He’s one on one with Ramsdale from close range but hits it first time, and it’s a poor finish in truth.

That could have been the hosts’ way back into the game, a wasted chance.

Newcastle are back in the ascendancy now, Trippier feeding a clever ball into the box from down the right, Joelinton receiving on the half-turn to muscle around the outside of Jorginho before White slides into a fine, saving challenge.

This first half has slowly swung in Arsenal’s favour. Jorginho has been the conductor in midfield, linking play and organisining the back line.

Newcastle need another burst of energy and intensity before half-time.

Saka sprints forward and gets a one on one with Pope, albeit with Botman bearing down on him.

It’s a golden opportunity, but the keeper makes himself big and Saka can’t beat him.

After a sketchy start the Gunners are on top.

Here come Arsenal again, Saka stuck in one-on-one when Xhaka feeds one into his stride! Newcastle are struggling at the back here, and a clever first touch takes Botman out of the equation!

But as he tries to get back at his man, Saka opts to lash rather than place his shot, and it clatters Pope in the chest before bouncing to safety! Might Arsenal rue these two missed chances?

The Gunners are beginning to play on their own terms and look more of a force in this game now.

A lovely sweeping move picks its way through Newcastle and gives Martinelli a chance in the box.

He hits is straight at Pope, but it falls to Odegaard on the right shortly afterwards and he forces a better save from the keeper. Much better from the visitors.
